URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Stairlift Safety Tips to Follow

Stairlift Safety Tips to Follow

Here are stairlift safety tips that you’ll want to follow.

Stairlifts are useful features to have in your home. They add a great deal of convenience to people’s lives, allowing them to get up and down the levels of their homes more easily. Not only do they make navigating stairs more convenient, but it also makes the process safer. Fortunately, stairlifts don’t require much in terms of maintenance, but in order to keep it safely operating, there are certain things you’ll need to do. Here are stairlift safety tips that you’ll want to follow.

Don’t Exceed the Capacity That Your Stairlift is Meant to Hold

Stairlifts are meant to hold one person at a time. To maximize stairlift safety during operation, you should refrain from having more than one person using it at once. You also have to consider how much weight your stairlift is able to hold. Each stairlift will have different weight limitations, so it’s important to consult your user’s manual to determine how much weight is safe to put on it.

Make Sure There are No Obstacles in Your Stairlift’s Path

You don’t want your stairlift getting stuck during operation. With that said, there are certain objects that can cause stairlifts to get stuck while you’re using them, such as loose floor boards and torn carpeting. As part of your stairlift safety procedures, keep these obstructions away from your stairlift. This way, it’ll be able to run smoothly, without being interrupted.

Be Mindful When Wearing Loose-Fitting Clothing

Some clothing items, like scarves, long jackets, and skirts can get caught underneath your stairlift if you’re not careful. This can cause your stairlift to be damaged, and it can even put you at risk for injury as well. As part of your stairlift safety practices, you’ll want to keep clothing like this away from your stairlift whenever you use it.
