URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Resolving Problems Your Wheelchair Lift May Have

Here are some wheelchair lift problems you may experience, and how to resolve them.

A home wheelchair lift can be a highly convenient utility for homeowners. They allow people to safely navigate the different levels of their home, granting people greater independence and safety. Sadly, there are problems that these wheelchair lifts can encounter. The good news, however, is that there are solutions to these issues as well. Here are some wheelchair lift problems you may experience, and how to resolve them.

Electrical Failures

This may not be a common problem, but it’s certainly a serious one. Electrical failures can make your wheelchair lift inoperable, which can be a big problem, especially when you’re not on the base level of your house.

This is a problem that we feel is best tackled by a professional. As such, find your local wheelchair lift electrician and let them know about your situation. Professionals will be able to find and resolve whatever electrical problems you may be experiencing.

Your Wheelchair Lift Needs Help Folding

Your wheelchair lift has folding and unfolding buttons that allow it to become more compact when it’s not in use. Sometimes, however, your lift may fold more slowly, or it might not fold at all.

If this is a problem you face, see if anything is pressing against the outboard or inboard barriers. The safety valve may need adjusting as well, which should be done with professional assistance.

Your Lift Stops Moving While Getting Lowered or Raised

Does your wheelchair lift stop in the midst of being raised or lowered? This could be a result of your inboard or outboard barriers having pressure put onto them.

If you think that something is pushing against these barriers, you’ll want to do an inspection to determine whether or not this is the case. Removing any obstructions should allow your lift to move up and down once again.
