URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

More Elevator Problems You May Experience

Here are some more elevator problems that you might experience.

Home elevators are valuable, as well as convenient, parts of our houses, as people use them to navigate through their homes on a daily basis. While these elevators are often going to be reliable, there will be times when they start to experience issues. We’ve reviewed some of the issues that elevators can encounter in the past, but there are additional problems that we want to cover with you today. Here are some more elevator problems that you might experience.

Contamination

As your elevator gets worn down, one of the elevator problems you’ll find is that tiny metal particles get into your oil. This can keep your elevator from functioning as it should function. You can also encounter elevator problems if you don’t have sufficient lubrication for its different components.

These problems are best handled proactively. This is why we recommend you perform regular elevator maintenance, and get your elevator inspected professionally. This way, you can avoid these problems from happening, or at least minimize the damage your elevator sustains.

Motor Drive Isn’t Aligned Properly

It’s crucial that you have shaft alignment whenever your electric motor is attached to another component of your elevator. When your motor drive isn’t aligned properly, it will cause your motor bearing to get worn down at a faster rate.

Bearings are Loud And/Or Malfunctioning

A large number of motor failures can be attributed to problems with your bearings, and if your motor experiences vibrations, you’ll likely have to deal with noisy bearings. While variable frequency drives may help lower how much energy your motor uses, it may also cause vibrations that are strong enough to become hazardous to your elevator as a whole.
