URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

How to Care For Your Home Elevator During Summer

How to Care For Your Home Elevator During Summer

Here are tips to help you care for your home elevator during summer.

Summer is a time when temperatures soar. Due to these extreme temperatures, your home elevator can be put under quite a bit of stress. That’s why it’s important to know how to care for your elevator during this time of year. Fortunately, Preferred Elevator knows the care that your elevator needs. Here are tips to help you care for your home elevator during summer.

Don’t Let the Elevator Motor Room Get Too Hot

Much like how people don’t like working in the intense heat, the same can be said for your home elevator. That’s why you want to regulate the temperature of your home elevator’s motor room. When temperatures get too high, the components of your elevator won’t be able to operate as efficiently, which can cause your elevator to break down prematurely. Therefore, you’ll want to keep temperatures from ever getting too hot. Ideally, the motor room should be between 45 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and humidity should not go over 85%. Proper ventilation is also helpful.

Have a Battery-Powered Backup System for Power Outages

You don’t want to be left unable to use your home elevator in the event of a power outage. That’s why it’s important to have a backup system in place that allows you to operate your elevator, even if the power goes out.

Summer is a season that can bring tropical storms, and many people use their air conditioners on full blast during this time of year. These factors can increase the risk of a power outage occurring around your house. You want to be ready just in case you find yourself without power in the near future.
