A wheelchair lift is a much-needed device that Preferred Elevator offers if you are a wheelchair user that wants their independence in moving in and out of your home. Our wheelchair lifts, just like our residential elevators and stairlifts are affordable even if you’re living on a limited income. The price of gaining your independence back is invaluable. There are many ways to finance your wheelchair lift. Keep reading to learn how!
Finance with Bruno
Our proposals are completely free and will let you know exactly how much the unit will cost so you can consider all your options. We partner with Bruno, a family-owned company, to bring you safe and reliable wheelchair lifts that you can finance through their financing company. You can apply online and receive a decision within a matter of moments! Once accepted, you can manage your payments online as well. The fair market value ensures affordable, low monthly payments.
Veteran Assistance and Grants
The Veteran’s Benefits Administration offers financial assistance to Veterans. If your limited mobility is due to service-related injuries, then the VA will cover the cost of a wheelchair lift. Even if being in the service isn’t the reason for your limited mobility, the VA Aid and Attendance Benefit offers financial assistance for veterans and applies to spouses as well.
Grants, such as the HISA (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations), SAH (Specially Adapted Housing), and SHA (Special Housing Adaptation) grants are available as well. The HISA grant applies to veterans that don’t have a service-related injury while SAH and SHA grants do not.
State Programs
Many states, including Maryland, have financial assistance programs geared towards low-income elderly individuals. The Maryland Accessible Homes program requires that the homeowner be a Maryland resident who is at least 55 years old and earn an income no higher than 80% of Maryland’s median. The home must be in Maryland, well-built, and the wheelchair user must own the home and physically live in that home. However, elders who live with family members may be eligible as well.
