URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Elevators and the Holidays: How to Prepare

Enjoy every bit of this holiday season with a home elevator

Christmas and New Year’s will be here before you know it. That means that you may be hosting a lot of parties in your Maryland home. Owning a home elevator during the holidays means that moving between each floor of your home will be safe and easy for anyone who may be visiting. Having a home elevator adds convenience, but there are a few things that you should keep in mind. Here’s how to prepare for the holidays when you own a home elevator.

Invest in Regularly Scheduled Maintenance

You should set up an annual maintenance checkup if you haven’t done so already in the past year. Before your guests arrive for the holidays, you want to make sure that your residential elevator is safe and running as it should, especially since it will be in heavy usage.

Teach Your Guests How to Use Your Home Elevator

For those who need it, you should give them a quick run-through of how to use the elevator, so that accidents are avoidable. When children are in the house, we recommend that you advise them against playing with the elevator riding in it without adult supervision. Most importantly, you should know your elevator’s weight capacity. Too many guests should never use the lift at the same time and exceed the weight capacity, as it could cause damage to your elevator.

How to Protect the Elevator Car

Maryland weather isn’t always consistent. There have been winter seasons where it’s felt like spring on Christmas. Other times, Maryland residents experience three-foot snowstorms or worse. What will help protect your elevator car and your home in general, is using an entry mat where guests can wipe their feet off. You can also add floor covers to your residential elevator as well or wall covers to prevent scratches if moving large items.

Don’t Own a Residential Elevator? Here’s Why You Should

The holidays should be an enjoyable time. It’s a time that you can spend with your family, enjoy fantastic food, and reflect on what makes you happy to be alive. A residential elevator can take away the pain that can come from trying to travel up and down the steps. Nothing should stop you from having a fantastic time with your family and friends, all year long!
