URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Elevator Maintenance Suggestions

A home elevator provides homeowners with a safe and convenient way to get to the different levels of their houses. With that said, this is only true if the elevator is operating smoothly, and this requires you to take good care of your elevator throughout the year. After all, mechanical equipment will experience problems over time, so it’s important to stay on top of problems so that your elevator can continue to function as intended. Here are home elevator maintenance tips we feel you should use.

Keep a Log of Your Elevator’s Operations

Home Elevator Maintenance Suggestions

Here are home elevator maintenance tips we feel you should use.

To make it easier to diagnose problems with your elevator, you may want to keep a log of your elevator’s operations. This doesn’t mean you need to write down notes every time you use the elevator, but it’s still good to keep a general schedule that tells you roughly how many times the elevator gets used on a daily/weekly basis.

If you detect problems with your elevator, make notes about things you notice. Does this problem happen when going up or going down the elevator (or both)? What time of day did the incident occur? The more details you keep regarding your elevator and its issues, the easier it will be to diagnose and resolve problems.

Keep Weight Limits in Mind

Another part of home elevator maintenance is understanding the weight limitations of your elevator. Your elevator will get a lot more use if you don’t exceed its weight capacity. This means it’s important to know how many people you can fit into your elevator at one time before it becomes unsafe. You also need to consider equipment that people might be using. For example, there may be someone around your house who uses a wheelchair or an electric scooter. These devices must be factored into the weight that your home elevator carries.
