You are currently in the market for a stairlift to meet the needs of one (or more) of your family members in your home, but you need to pick the perfect one to suit all of their needs. When looking at stairlifts, you need to consider a variety of factors from the person using the device to the type of staircase in your home. There are a couple of different stairlift styles you will need to choose from when looking for one for your home.
Straight Stairlifts
One of the most common stairlifts installed, a straight stairlift is the easiest to install and operate. This type of stairlift is travels straight up and down a staircase and is the most economical option because of its simplicity. A straight stairlift only takes a few hours to install because it doesn’t need to be customized to a curved staircase. The device benefits anyone with a mobile disability from painful joints to multiple sclerosis as well in assisting carrying things from one level to another.
Curved Stairlifts
If your staircase curves or turns at any angle, then the best option for your home is a curved stairlift. If your staircase curves at the bottom or the top, a staircase that moves along the turn would make travel easier for anyone using the device. A straight stairlift wouldn’t be as efficient on a winding staircase because there would be a gap in the stairlift where a person would have to get out and walk.
